Snipers??

The latest news from New Orleans; A joint NOPD SWAT and ATF Task force have recently made several federal arrests as well as working to catch SNIPERS in New Orleans and the surrounding areas. Apparently these gunmen are randomly shooting at military helicopters, rescue personal, law enforcement personnel, and workers attempting to repair infrastructure systems such as cellular towers and electrical lines etc.

There is a serious problem in New Orleans that can have only stemmed from years of corruption. There is an unprecedented lawlessness that exists in the New Orleans area. A lawlessness that is unprecedented in the history of the United States. The daily news is becoming increasingly disturbing, and increasingly hard to swallow. The state and local governments need to be thoroughly investigated for failures and unprepared ness that allowed things to progress to the state they’re in.

Everyone knows that the federal government is slow to react to any situation, however, it is completely obvious that the state and local government of Louisiana and the city of New Orleans reacted impossibly slowly, and in fact in some instances failed to react at all.

As Americans I think we need to get involved. The disaster preparedness plan for the entire nation needs to be seriously looked at.

Total Chaos

What has happened to America? Hurricane Katrina absolutely ravaged the gulf coast of the United States, and if that weren’t enough, the citizens of New Orleans finished the job. It is being suggested that some people remained in the city for the express purpose of looting and further ravaging and pillaging the city.

What has become of the morals of Americans? What happened to the spirit and heart that was witnessed immediately following the tragedy of September 11th 2001? Has the moral compass of America been so distorted that people; and we are talking possibly thousands, or even tens of thousands of people would so easily neglect to help each other, and instead pillage their own city?

Make no mistake, there is currently a large number of people that are causing a great deal of trouble in the now dead city of New Orleans. People who would fire on emergency medical, search and rescue, and law enforcement personnel for reasons unknown, while they attempt to rescue and otherwise assist those in need.

Has greed overtaken the people in that city to such a degree as they are trying to take an ENTIRE city and keep in for themselves? As though it is some sort of spoil of war? I don’t understand at all these recent events. Never in my lifetime, nor in my recollection of the history of my great nation can I recall a time when the citizens behaved in this fashion.

It is quite obvious and clear that there was no command and control, and no coherent plan for public safety for the citizens of New Orleans. Bearing in mind this was in fact a storm of unimaginable power, the fact remains that it appears that the city and state governments were sitting on their hands.

This event in unprecedented and not simply because of the storm and the subsequent destruction, but for the behavior of Americans… And not just a select few, a great number of people, to the extent that in some instances they appeared to be in large semi organized armed groups. Who the hell shoots at an unarmed rescue helicopter in the middle of the greatest natural disaster in the history of the United States?

I am so completely confused and depressed.
